The Fifth edition of Governor John P. de Jongh’s Summer Reading Challenge was launched at multiple venues and events during the last days of June. Children had the opportunity to take home books at no charge to them as part of this important and innovative program. Besides promoting the habit of reading, the U.S. Virgin Islands initiative also promotes local talent by featuring books written and /or illustrated by local writers and artists with themes that local kids can relate to.
